I started with the man in the mirror.

Just a few years ago, everything was different. I was confused, disempowered, uninspired by my career, and disappointed in my creative passions. I felt lost.

I had completed some incredible projects within social impact roles, and yet never found my place. I had worked jobs while trying to build side projects but ended up getting stuck there in the daily grind.

What I did find, however, was myself using a wide array of coping mechanisms such as drinking, partying, eating junk food, and smoking; and in the process, I would lose focus, momentum, and motivation for the things that might actually bring true fulfilment.

I made procrastination a fine art, in fact, I took it all the way to self-sabotage until I couldn’t break through the fear and inertia of my poor decisions. As a result, a number of important relationships suffered irrevocably.

I wasn’t living my truth, and couldn’t find a foothold to live courageously. Despite the greatness I felt destined for, years had ticked by while I remained stuck in a cycle of failures, disappointments, and no clear sense of direction.

I began asking, “Is this really it?” I knew that if I didn’t make a powerful change immediately I might never do it. And I knew I would regret this failure for the rest of my life.

Worse than that, I could feel the slippery slope of deep depression edging closer and noticed some extremely toxic thoughts creeping into my mind. I started to lose my desire for life.

“Instead of just going with the flow of a thousand possibilities, I have now defined my path within which I can flow. ”

— BEDE, FOUNDER OF MASTERME

This turmoil fuelled a tonne of research: a degree in psychology, a degree in human resources, years of research on topics of habits and discipline, human optimisation strategies, entrepreneurship principles for efficient project management, personal development courses, silent meditation courses, mindfulness practices, and an endless obsession for “ageless wisdom”.

It took years to process all these learnings and synthesise them into something cohesive, but slowly I created the workings of something that I could regularly use. And amazingly, it began to generate sustained clarity and direction in my life.

After six months, the system and practice started generating sustained momentum, I had never felt so clear on where I wanted to go and who I wanted to become. I was living healthier, saving more money, making bolder plans, being more productive and my relationship – to others and myself – dramatically improved. I finally feel like I held the reigns of my life. Instead of just going with the flow of a thousand possibilities, I have now defined my path within which I can flow.

I quickly recognised that my passion for the process of personal development was not only a unique strength but something I wanted to dive deeper into and something I wanted to share with others. In a profound moment, I realised the search for purpose was my purpose.

The big lesson: know yourself first, then you’ll know how to powerfully apply yourself. That’s why I say, “self-mastery is the greatest contribution you can make to the world.

So, that’s how MasterMe was born – I started with the man in the mirror, and now I help many others to predictably uncover and rapidly move towards their dream career, and lifestyle aligned to their value, vision purpose.
